Dear Friends,

I’m finally surfacing after some massive deadlines and can now send along these fun updates from the world of Frodo, Bilbo, Edmund Pevensie, and Elizabeth Bennet (hmm, it’s getting crowded around here!).

  • Dating Mr. Darcy: The Smart Girl’s Guide to Sensible Romance is now available through my website. I’m one of the few booksellers carrying it at the moment—just in time for graduation, too! Summer book events and signings are shaping up even now, so check the schedule for updates.

  • Walking with Frodo is nearing the 100,000 mark with almost 90,000 copies in print as of the seventh printing this spring. Bilbo is rambling along his merry way as well. I couldn’t ask for better literary companions on this writing adventure.

  • Visit www.hollywoodjesus.com for reviews of several books in Tyndale’s “thirsty?” line (scroll down to “Upcoming Movies”), including my forthcoming youth devotional Walking through the Wardrobe. Inspired by
    C. S. Lewis’s classic fantasy The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the book is due for release just prior to the blockbuster movie this Christmas. While you’re waiting, I highly recommend
    www.narniaweb.com for fun movie updates.

  • Speaking of Lewis, fans will want to mark their calendars for the third annual Northern Michigan C. S. Lewis Festival this fall: www.cslewisfestival.org. Even though I’ll be living in North Carolina by that time (my husband starts his three-year MDiv program at Duke University Divinity School), I’ll be back for the kick-off weekend Oct. 28-30 and for the Nov. 1 guest appearance of Douglas Gresham, stepson of Lewis and co-producer of the Narnia film. I hope you’ll join us!

  • Finally, I’d like to toot the horn of my friend and fellow author, Kris Rasmussen, who’s just published a really fun youth devo entitled
Wonka Mania, inspired by Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There’s a lot of buzz about Johnny Depp starring in the new movie this July, so it’s perfect timing. Please spread the word to all the youth workers and teens you know. Thanks!

My newsletters are pretty sporadic, so I'm thinking about creating a blog pretty soon. Meanwhile, feel free to sign up for my online book discussion group and post your thoughts. I enjoy hearing from you!

Blessings,

“This is no thaw,” said the Dwarf, suddenly stopping.
“This is spring.”
