Dear friends, family, and fellow LOTR-junkies,
I missed sending the February newsletter, so we’re on to a
new month of updates already!
Some fun stuff about how things are going with my first
book, Walking with Frodo: A Devotional Journey through The Lord of the
Rings:
- It’s been translated into German! Yep: Unterwegs
mit Frodo: Inspirierende Andachten zu Tolkiens "Der Herr der Ringe,"
published by Schulte & Gerth (►www.gerth.de)
is now available in European markets. It’s a strange experience to look
at a book I’ve written and not be able to read it (!).
- Walking with Frodo
continues to land on the bestsellers list in Christian publishing for
the season. As expected, sales have slowed somewhat after the holidays,
but tell all your friends to keep it in mind as a great graduation gift
for high school and college students. Signed copies can be ordered
through my website
►www.saraharthur.com.
- For those in the Detroit area, tune in to the morning
show of WMUZ (103.5 FM, "The Light"), Detroit’s Christian radio station:
Walking with Frodo is the featured devotional, and host Sean
Herriott and I are discussing one chapter a day for the next several
weeks.
- I’m keeping busy with speaking engagements and
book-signings during the next few months. The next book-signing will be
at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Midland (mall) on Saturday, March 13
from 12-2 p.m.; then I’ll be speaking at a College & Career event in
Yale, Michigan that evening. Upcoming events are posted on my website.
- Look for a reprint of my online article "The Tale
We’ve Fallen Into" in the March/April issue of Good News: The
Magazine for United Methodist Renewal.
- I was invited to be the guest author on a live chat
for the Guideposts for Teens website last week at
►www.gp4teens.com.
(Sorry I didn’t get the word out on time!) The participants asked some
great questions and I’m already getting feedback from several that have
visited my website. Please let other teens know that I enjoy getting
email (►sarah@saraharthur.com)
and am happy to answer their questions.
Meanwhile I’m getting started on Walking with Bilbo:
A Devotional Journey through The Hobbit, which is slated for release
from thirsty(?) books (Tyndale) in January 2005. It will be followed by
Dating Mr. Darcy, timeless tips on dating and romance from Jane
Austen’s romantic comedies Pride & Prejudice, Emma, and Sense &
Sensibility (August 2005). So I have my work cut out for me this year!
Updates will be posted through my website.
Blessings during this season of Lent,
